June 28, 2017 -- For hitting all the downtown Boise hotspots, you can’t beat Inn at 500’s location. It’s ideal with a majestic view of the capitol as soon as you step outside the front door (and also from some rooms.) 

May 24, 2017 -- The Inn at 500 excels at hospitality. The lobby doubles as an art gallery and stocks complimentary Idaho beers, wine, and snacks, and the staff are happy to share their favorite running routes and hikes. The hotel’s restaurant, Richard’s, is a Boise institution.

September 2017 -- Why stay in a cookie-cutter hotel when you can relax in a hotel with dramatic pops of fuchsia, teal and lime around every corner? The Inn at 500 Capitol in Boise, Idaho opened earlier this year with delightfully bright accents both inside and outside the hotel, like the bold red flower boxes hanging from the balcony of each room. All floors feature a huge mural that welcomes guests as the elevator doors open, many of which are reflective of the history and culture of Idaho’s state capital.

February 9, 2017 -- A small grove of art inhabits the corner of Myrtle Street and Capitol Boulevard, one of the busiest intersections in Downtown Boise and home to the new Inn at 500 Capitol.

The towering trio of sculptural trees gracefully arches above the sidewalk outside the tony boutique hotel, as its copper and gold “leaves” turn and glitter in the sunlight.

January 18, 2017 -- When Carrie Westergard assumed the post of executive director of the Boise Convention and Visitors Bureau—the marketing arm of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce—she asked Boise Valley Economic Partnership Executive Director Clark Krause which high-profile conventions he regularly attended.

January 16, 2017 -- Brian Obie says his first upscale hotel in Eugene, Ore., is doing so well that he is about to open his second — in Boise.

And he may not stop there.

December 31, 2016 -- Development: The Inn at 500 Capitol — and the attached Richard’s restaurant — is scheduled to open in January, ahead of two or three other Boise hotels slated for 2017 openings.

December 22, 2016 -- Labor shortages and nasty weather have delayed by a few weeks the opening of Inn at 500, an upscale hotel under construction on the southeast corner of Capitol Boulevard and Myrtle Street.

December 15, 2016 -- The year in Boise was framed, in large part, by the sight of construction cranes looming over the downtown core, as multiple projects took advantage of the post-recession building boom. One of those high-profile construction projects, at the corner of Capitol Boulevard and Myrtle Street, is nearing completion and eyeing an early 2017 grand opening.

December 14, 2016 -- The Inn at 500 Capitol expects to have its certificate of occupancy by Jan. 17 to welcome overnight guests to the 112-room boutique hotel at Myrtle Street and Capitol Boulevard in downtown Boise, General Manager Aaron Black said.

December 12, 2016 -- Downtown Boise, Idaho, becomes transformed into a charming holiday town every winter. Pet parents and their pooches can stroll downtown to see the massive Christmas tree on the Grove Plaza, listen to carolers strolling throughout the city, and then finish the day with a hot cup of coffee on the pet-friendly patio at the downtown location of Java Coffee & Cafe.

December 12, 2016 -- L.A. has plenty of iconic Instagram-friendly murals. (Got your wings on at Collette Miller’s Angel Wings yet?) In Idaho, an entire city block of photographic walls await. What began in 2002 as a singular drawing by artist Colby Akers on the backdoor of a cafe is now the largest outdoor gallery in the northwest. The murals are ever-evolving as older pieces are painted over or incorporated into new works. Freak Alley Gallery features a roster of regular artists and an indoor gallery. November 14, 2016 -- JD and I had the pleasure of checking out a sneak peek of the NEW Inn at 500 Capitol, a new luxury boutique hotel in downtown Boise. We made ourselves quite comfortable and snagged two of the softest robes as we took in the whole experience.

The partners say they have discovered a winning business formula by developing independent, fancy hotels in underserved markets, namely relatively small cities that are home to well-known universities.

September 12, 2016 - The final beam on one of Boise's newest hotels was placed today. A ceremony was held as the beam made its way up to the 6th floor of the Inn at 500 Capitol. On it is about 150 signatures of all those who made the project happen. The Inn at 500 Capitol is a 6-floor boutique hotel comprised of 110 rooms.

April 22, 2016 -- We got a sneak peek at what Boise's new luxury hotel will look like. This is a demo of a room from the Inn at 500 Capitol. The hotel isn't slated to be done until the end of this year, or early next year, but they're already showing off their high end rooms and amenities.

February 5, 2016 -- The Inn at 500 Capitol boutique hotel isn’t set to open until Dec. 31 in downtown Boise, but a king room will be on full display in the Capitol Gateway building in BoDo by early March.

January 19, 2016 -- Aaron Black, a luxury hotelier from Portland, Maine, has been hired to lead Boise’s Inn at 500 Capitol.Black has more than 20 years of hotel management experience, said the hotel developers, Obie Development Partners of Eugene, Ore. The hotel is due to open this year.

October 13, 2015--Developers joined Boise city leaders Tuesday morning to break ground on the Inn at 500 Capitol, one of three hotels set to occupy three corners of the intersection of Capitol Boulevard and Myrtle Street—one of Boise's (and Idaho's) busiest intersections.

"Boise is in need of this hotel. The community will embrace it. This hotel will have one brand, and it will be the Boise brand," said developer and former Eugene, Ore., Mayor Brian Obie.

October 10, 2015 -- The Inn at 500 Capitol broke ground in downtown Boise on Oct. 13. The independent boutique hotel is slated to be complete in late 2016. It’s owned by Obie Development Partners of Eugene, Ore., and it’s located on the southeast corner of Capitol Boulevard and Myrtle Street.

October 8, 2015 -- The second downtown Boise hotel groundbreaking in as many months is set for Oct. 13 as work starts on the Inn at 500 Capitol, a boutique hotel at the southeast corner of Capitol Boulevard and Myrtle Street. Across the street, at the northeast corner, demolition work started Sept. 2 on the Dunkley Music building.

August 27, 2015 -- Urban renewal funds will subsidize $467,435 in utility relocation and streetscape costs for the proposed 113-room Inn at 500 Capitol boutique hotel. The hotel is destined for the southeast corner of Myrtle Street and Capitol Boulevard.

April 9, 2015-- A boutique hotel planned for the corner of Capitol Boulevard and Myrtle Street has gotten the go-ahead from Boise's Planning & Zoning Commission.

The Inn at 500 Capitol will be a 104-room, 7-story hotel is expected to cost approximately $25 million to build. Construction is expected to begin in August of this year and be completed by the end of 2016.

April 9, 2015 -- The 104-room Inn at 500 Capitol boutique hotel proposal passed through its first round of preliminary city approvals on April 8. The City of Boise Planning & Zoning Commission’s Design Review Committee recommended approval of Obie Development Partners’ $25 million proposal for the southeast corner of Capitol Boulevard and Myrtle Street.

March 12, 2015 -- Obie Development Partners LLC, based in Eugene, Ore., has announced that it is seeking city approval for a $25 million, seven-story, 104-room boutique hotel on the southeast corner of Capitol Boulevard and Myrtle Street, a stone's throw from the "premier" hotel project fronted by Eagle-based hotel investment company Pennbridge Capital.

March 10, 2015-- Obie Development Partners announced Tuesday that it submitted an application to the city of Boise for a seven-story, 104-room hotel.
The company, founded by former Eugene, Ore., Mayor Brian Obie, hopes to break ground late this summer and finish construction by the end of 2016. The project is expected to cost $25 million.

October 25, 2016 -- The Inn at 500 Capitol has hired Amy Parrish as corporate sales manager. Parrish has 12 years of hotel sales and catering expertise and is a Boise State University Alumni Association board member and treasurer of the Southwest Idaho Travel Association board.

August 16, 2017 -- For an afternoon of wine tasting, head over to Garden City and sample the many award-winning wines created by winemaker Melanie Krause at Cinder. Enjoy views of the Boise River and the Greenbelt while sipping Telaya Wine Co.'s impressive wines by winemaker Earl Sullivan. And when it's time to retire, head back to the city's newest boutique hotel that's within walking distance to most of the restaurants and bars, the Inn at 500 Capitol.
